Import-Procurement Senior Officer

Local contract, Dakar – Senegal

 Responsibilities:

IMPORT

• Organize import operations and ensure that they are carried out effectively and efficiently
• Administrates and directs the transportation of commodities and products and make sure that all the commodities and products have been delivered properly and on time
• Negotiate documented agreements for the delivery and management of products and commodities
• Negotiates with carriers, warehouse operators or distribution networks to determine tariffs that should be in the interests of the company at all times
• He will handle the exoneration process from A to Z
• He will be responsible for health and safety and expected to maintain safety manuals, inspect physical conditions of warehouses, equipment (including the training on the proper use of equipment), fleet vehicles, repairs or replacements as and when required

PROCUREMENT

The Import – Procurement Officer will be responsible for

• Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services
• Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency
• Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs
• Requesting cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices
• Preparing and processing purchase orders
• Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments
• Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries
• Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations

Skills and requirements

• Minimum 10 years experience in logistics, importation and/or warehouse management, time management and organisational skills

• Bachelor level
• Native in French, fluent in English as MUST!
• Good communication and negotiation skills – expected to develop and maintain business relationships with both customers and suppliers
• Good financial understanding and ability to apply mathematical problems with ease
• Decisive and works well under pressure
• Availability and flexibility regarding working days and hours – must be able to respond to imperatives based on different time zones
