 Country Manager (M/F)

Local Contract, Mbale – Uganda

Position Overview:

 We are seeking a highly qualified and dynamic professional to lead our client’s operations in Uganda as Country Manager. This role is pivotal in driving strategic execution, operational excellence, and community impact across the country.

Key Responsibilities :

• Strategic & Project Management Oversee the planning, implementation, and delivery of solar and water infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with annual goals and timelines.
• Team Leadership Manage and mentor local staff and contractors, including engineers and field officers; establish work plans and performance tracking systems.
• Community Engagement Mobilize and engage local communities to ensure project adoption, sustainability, and long-term impact.
• Technical Oversight Supervise hydrological surveys, drilling operations, pump testing, water quality assessments, and infrastructure construction.
• Monitoring & Evaluation Conduct regular performance reviews of ongoing projects and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Stakeholder Relations Build and maintain strong partnerships with government entities, NGOs, district authorities, and community leaders.
• Donor & Visitor Coordination Organize and manage field visits for international teams, donors, and partners.
• Reporting & Financial Management Prepare weekly operational and financial reports; oversee budget execution and expense tracking.
• Office & Logistics Management Ensure smooth functioning of office operations, including fleet management, supplier coordination, insurance, and safety compliance.

 Qualifications & Profile :

• Education Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Management, or a related field. An engineering background is a strong asset.
• Experience
  • Minimum 5 years in field-based NGO roles, ideally within the water or energy sectors.
  • Minimum 5 years in managerial positions with direct oversight of contractors and vendors.
• Skills & Attributes
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities
  • Strong communication and community mobilization skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and professional email communication
  • Fluency in English and local languages of the Mbale region
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexibility to work across time zones and occasional weekends
