HR Director West Africa

Local contract, Abidjan, Ivory Coast

Position summary:

We are seeking an influential HR Director with proven experience gained within a global multinational environment, to include working directly with the leadership team of a business locally whilst also acting as a critical link between broader international region. The successful candidate will possess broad HR expertise to include change management, organisational design, coaching skills and transformational leadership and industrial relations. As part of the leadership team this role will operate effectively with the senior leadership across different business units driving implementations and supporting group initiatives whilst providing solutions within a fast moving and dynamic environment.

Fluency in English and French is required for this role


  • Oversees the daily workflow of the departments.
  • Develops HR strategy, solutions and strategic workforce plans that align to HQ strategy and objectives
  • Responsible for and focus on building a great organizational culture through initiating and implementing various HR programs
  • Builds and drives a culture of compliance by ensuring adherence to the company’s Code of Conduct policy, business ethics, and employment legislation
  • Provides HR insights for business and external markets, proactively influence
  • Orientation for local and expatriate employees
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Onboarding for new hire

Skills and requirements:

  • Seasoned HR leader with at least 10 years’ experience, in working with international companies/ organizations
  • Master degree is required, MBA preferred
  • Strengthen relationship between the company and its employees by measuring and assuring the employees’ satisfaction at work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills both EN and FR
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and customer service skills
  • Thorough understanding of country-specific employment laws as warranted
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
